Customer experience PortACool evaporative coolers

Our customers say it best when they praise Port-A-Cool® products!
Thank you for the great support and being there if I have any questions! The unit is doing exactly what you said it would and I think even a bit more. We were struggling with such a large area (30K+ Sq Ft) trying to keep the temperature at a safe working level, with these units, we’re not going to have that issue any longer! It’s so easy to operate! It took only a few minutes to figure out optimal ways of running it, which is also a nice feature, it adapts to different situations and temps. It’s as easy as; plug and play! It’s so nice to be able to move it wherever its needed and not just stay stationary and it only takes one person to move it. We were able to run a direct water line to the machine with no issues and if we aren’t able to run a line to it due to the area it’s in, it is simple to fill the LARGE reservoir and go. We will defiantly be purchasing a second, third and fourth unit for our areas. Thanks for your great product and on-point customer service! testimonials

As the owner of three waterfront outdoor restaurants in South Florida I wanted tell you what an asset your “Coolers” are to our locations. The customers think they are fantastic. I’m impressed that in the four years since we began using your product there has been virtually no maintenance or repair and they do get a lot of use. Thank you for providing us with an excellent solution for those hot South Florida days.
Bob Gregory, Restaurant Owner

We bought a 48” Port-A-Cool for use at work. It just happened to arrive on the same day as twelve 18 wheelers pulled up to unload at our facility. The first thing we did was unpack the Port-A-Cool and start it up before the unloading process began. It was a hot day and there was no way we could have finished the job without the quick cool downs the employees were able to do during the process. We now use it daily and it keeps our facility 5-7 degrees cooler. We especially like the portability and low noise level of the unit. We are able to talk on our cell phones while standing in front of the unit keeping cool.
Tague Estes, VP of Operations, TriFun

With high temperatures of south Mississippi on top of the extreme heat of our presses, the huge A/C’s piping cool air directly to each of the steam press positions could not keep the temperature from rising to unsafe levels. We bought a couple of 36” Port-A-Cool@ evaporative fans and found that they did a super job of supplementing our A/C’s and greatly enhanced the comfort and safety of our employees. We are very satisfied with the results. I would highly recommend them for use anywhere since they work in this extreme situation.

Port-A-Cool beats the heat naturally

Gulf Construction Online published a nice article on Port-A-Cool. You can read the full article at their portal.

Ben Wulf, vice-president of marketing and international sales of Port-A-Cool*, stresses that evaporative cooling is not only an effective solution but also one that is economical, environment-friendly and healthy.
WHEN temperatures approach 32 deg C, the potential for heat stroke and other heat-related health conditions become a real concern. Heat poses a danger for not only workers in high temperature environments, but also for livestock and agricultural environments.
‘High temperature environments’ generally refer to those where temperatures are more than 31 deg C for light work, over 28 deg C for moderate work and over 26 deg C for heavy work. According to the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other agencies, employees required to work in high temperature environments should be allowed frequent breaks in a cool place to avoid symptoms of heat stress including nausea, dizziness, cramps, confusion, fainting, seizure and even death.

Ventilation is often recommended by these agencies to offset the effects of heat. Some specifically recommend evaporative cooling where available, citing the high cost of installing and operating central air-conditioning, and the additional benefit of evaporative cooling.
Evaporative cooling units, like Port-A-Cool units manufactured in the US, can lower the ambient temperature by as much as 14 deg C, turning a restrictive 32 deg C area into a cooler working environment, reducing employee heat-related health issues and increasing productivity.
These units provide spot cooling where it is needed most with no harmful chemicals or refrigerants and cool economically with efficient, effective resource use.
In addition, Port-A-Cool portable evaporative cooling units provide fresh cool air and require nothing but tap water and 220 to 240 v 50 Hz of electricity to operate. Furthermore, evaporative cooling is up to 50 per cent cheaper to install and three times cheaper to run than refrigerated cooling.

Marquee aircooling specialist
Port-A-Cool units can be found worldwide in high-profile industries like oil and gas, steel, building construction, airport projects, race horse stables and various other applications. They have for more than 20 years, proven effective in reducing temperatures in applications ranging from agricultural and horticultural, manufacturing, industrial, business, entertainment, and sports, to home and hobby uses – anywhere that cooling is needed, and traditional air-conditioning is impractical or cost prohibitive.
Evaporative cooling has also been proven to improve indoor air quality because of the introduction of fresh air and moisture that the unit produces.
Beyond the primary concern of health safety for workers and livestock, there are economic benefits to be derived from cooler environments.
According to OSHA ‘rest period’ recommendations, if a staff of 100 workers takes just one additional 10-minute rest period per day, the cost to the company will be 16 hours and 40 minutes in lost production time per day or 83 hours and 20 minutes per week. At $18 per hour pay rate, excluding overtime and including benefits, the cost to the company will be $1,500 per week or $19,500 over the course of a 13-week summer. That is for only one 10-minute rest period per day per 100 workers.
Mentally, workers can become drowsy, unfocused, moody, and the effects of heat stress have been shown to contribute to accidents, work slowdowns and walkouts, according to the US organisation Southwest Michigan Coalition on Safety and Health.
The benefits of evaporative cooling extend into livestock applications as well.

Green aspect
In addition to being healthy and economically smart, evaporative cooling is also environment friendly.
The world is becoming more sensitive to the term “green” and what it means to the environment and the health of our planet. Many companies are rushing to redefine their products and business practices to go green. Some companies such as Port-A-Cool, however, have always been green because it was just the right thing to do.
Evaporative cooling is a natural process. The ancient Egyptians used the same principles to cool their homes by hanging damp mats in the doorway and allowing the wind to evaporate the water and provide cooling.
Port-A-Cool units utilise the same natural cooling methods, but have implemented state-of-the-art technology to perfect the process. The water, held in a sump tank inside the unit, is pure enough to water a garden. Only tap water and 240 v 50 Hz of electricity are required to operate the unit.
Because the Port-A-Cool unit uses a natural cooling process, no harmful greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide expelled from traditional air-conditioning systems, are released into the air to harm the ozone layer.
Evaporative cooling is the healthiest way to cool because it replaces stale air with clean, fresh air many times an hour – doors and windows remain open. The air is never re-circulated, which means smells and airborne germs are expelled.
In addition, Port-A-Cool units feature a one-piece, rotationally moulded plastic housing, which is leak and rust proof and produced at the company’s manufacturing facility. The company recycles all scrap plastic from the manufacturing process and uses recycled plastic in the mould, reducing waste and harm to the environment.
So, can a cooling technique that has been around since the dark ages still be effective in today’s high tech society? Not only can it provide effective cooling solutions, evaporative cooling can do it without harming the environment with ozone-depleting chemicals.

Cool your industrial warehouse and logistics center

Many companies face every summer the same challenge. How can we cool our industrial warehouse of workshop on an effective and economic way? Especially the companies where the windows or doors are often open face this problem, because which system can cool such an open space?

The answer is easy: Port-A-Cool evaporative coolers.

Port-A-Cool evaporative coolers are first of all installation-free. Second they are mobile cooling units so they can be placed just where the cooling is needed and expensive installation costs can be avoided by just cooling the work areas.

Another big advantage of adiabatic cooling is that you can leave the doors and windows open. With more ventilation the system even cools better. And this all for very low usage and maintenance costs. An evaporative cooling is very ecological and costs just some cents a day.

Improve worker safety industry heat stress

Gulf Construction Online published a nice article about Port-A-Cool. You can read the full article at their portal

EVAPORATIVE cooling systems from Port-A-Cool are gaining popularity and are now finding increasing application in areas that were considered cost prohibitive to keep cool with traditional air-conditioners, according to the US-based firm which will showcase its diverse portfolio of products at The Big 5.

The company says its evaporative coolers are extremely economical, operating for less than $1 a day, allowing their use in applications where users would otherwise not be able to afford the installation, maintenance, and operational costs of traditional air-conditioners.

Thanks to the efficiency and economy they afford, these cooling units are now being using in a diverse range of applications, according to Ben Wulf, vice-president of marketing, Port-A-Cool. “Traditionally, the majority of our products have been focused on commercial environments, where you have a lot of heat being generated or for worker safety and comfort, such as construction and industrial sites. However, we continue to find new applications on a daily basis, ranging from agricultural plots and the cooling of equestrian facilities to camel farms.
“In this region, worker safety continues to be a growing concern, and we are continuing to look for and explore new applications all the time.”

Wulf says the biggest value that Port-A-Cool brings is its versatility and the number of applications in which the product can be used. “Additionally, with energy costs continuing to rise, our units are extremely energy efficient, operating on only water and standard electricity, making them a much more affordable option compared to traditional alternatives,” he says.
So what’s special about Port-A-Cool’s evaporative cooling solution? Wulf says his company has a variety of units in its product portfolio to meet a number of applications.
We also distinguish ourselves in the market as we produce our own cooling media, allowing us to tightly control the various components and inputs required for producing our units. One other element of distinction is we are the only portable evaporative cooling unit being distributed in the GCC that is made in the US,” he adds.

While the evaporative cooling concept remains the same, Port-A-Cool has continuously improved the technology of the products allowing them to be more efficient and to be used in a wider range of applications.

“In addition, our technology has always been ‘green’, in the sense that our units run on tap water and, therefore, are free of harsh chemicals and refrigerants. The energy savings are also significant and the units use very little electricity,” Wulf says.

Port-A-Cool uses 100 per cent virgin kraft paper, containing a higher resin content that helps to provide effective and efficient cooling, with increased durability, strength and longevity of the pads. Its Kuul Pads last for three to four years with minimal maintenance required, and essentially allows one to work in humid environments such as the Gulf.

Wulf says the popularity of its evaporative coolers is rising. “The response has been very strong so far. We have been in the Gulf for a little over seven years and we continue to experience growing demand as we further establish our presence.

“We expect the demand to continue to expand as we continue to educate both consumers and the commercial markets on the value and benefits of our products,” he remarks.

In addition, Port-A-Cool allows the use of the outdoor space especially during the summer. “Our products are great for outdoor dining areas, patios, chalets and Ramadan tents,” he says. “Our units are currently being used in the Burj Khalifa, Cafe Blanc and The Orchestra restaurant and Cafe both at Dubai Mall, Al Manzil Hotel, and Sheraton Jumeirah (all in the UAE) as well as in private residences across the region. They are also great for outdoor festivals, hospitality events, and concerts where you need to keep the temperature down while accommodating large crowds.”

In addition, Port-A-Cool also has products in some of the restaurants and dining areas at the Burj Khalifa to keep visitors cool during the summer months.
In terms of iconic projects, the company has worked on many. “The one that stands out in my mind is the Hamad International Airport in Qatar, which used over 300 Port-A-Cool units during its construction phase to keep the workers cool, safe and comfortable during extreme temperatures. Similarly, our products were used during the construction of Muscat International Airport. Some of our prominent clients in the UAE include Abu Dhabi Steel Company, Emirates Steel, Bridgestone Middle East, Schlumberger, Weatherford Middle East and many more,” says Wulf.
